England - Yorkshire Dales to Lake District

Fountains Abbey is one of the largest and best preserved ruins of a Cistercian monastery in England. It lies along the valley of the River Skell and is situated about two miles west of the cathedral city of Ripon. The Abbey was named for the springs of water nearby.
